Uersala Marie August-Carthon

Uersala Marie August-Carthon was born December 14, 1974 in Kinder, La. to Raymond and Celestine Comeaux.  She departed this life on Friday, April 19, 2024.

She was a  member of Gray's Temple COGIC in Oberlin, La. with her family.  She was baptized at an early age and participated in Sunday School and the Youth Department.  At the time of her death, she was a member of First Baptist Church in Oberlin, La. under the leadership of Pastor Jaylan J. Grogan Sr.

Uersala was a Class of 1992 graduate of Oberlin High School.  She then went on to attend McNeese State University in Lake Charles, La. majoring in Criminal Justice. She enjoyed playing softball, working as a substitute teacher, shopping, going out to eat and spending time with her children.

In June of 2002, she married Shawn Carthon.  To this union she had sons, Matthew and Aaron.  Her life was dedicated to her family.  She strived to be an exemplary mother.

She was hard a hard-working young lady.  She was employed with Coushatta Casino Resort from the age of 16 to the time of her illness at age 47.  She worked in a number of departments.  Uersala also enjoyed being a substitute teacher within the Allen Parish School District. She also enjoyed playing softball, shopping, going out to eat and spending time with her children.

Preceding her in death were her loving daughter, Laila August; brother, Samuel August; sister, Ramona Ledet; maternal grandparents, Paul and Edna Mae August; paternal grandparents, Mr. Steven and Mrs. Bessie Comeaux; godparents, L.C. and Rosa Lee Presley.

Her memories will be forever cherish by her two sons, Matthew and Aaron Carthon; parents, Raymond and Celestine Comeaux all of Oberlin, La.; bonus children, Quiera Larkins of Texas  and Shawn Davis Sr. of Mississippi; sister, Yoruba Foster of Virginia; brother and sister in love, Richard and Kristie Ledet Jr. of Carlyss, La.  As well as a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.
