Antoine "Tony" Broussard Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Antoine ‘Tony’ Broussard who peacefully departed this life on October 9, 2025, at the age of 87 in Lake Charles, Louisiana. Hewas born February 2, 1938, to the late Adam Broussard and Odelia Broussard née Cole in St. Martinville, Louisiana. His union with Doris Evelyn Wilright produced three children, Jacqueline, Yolanda and Gerald.

Antoine, affectionately known as Tony, had many nicknames including Toine, Bruce, Hope and The King. He attended Sacred Heart School as a child and was a member of Midway Baptist Church of Moss Bluff, Louisiana. For over 50 years and until recently, he was an active member of several bowling leagues, fishing teams, hunted and participated in countless tournaments and competitions. He fished from Cameron to Toledo Bend and bowled in numerous states. His prize winning bass was mounted on the wall at his home with a few bowling trophies on display. Many were fortunate to receive an unforgettable firm handshake or were shown his mighty fist adorned with his “300” ring as a sign of friendship, solidarity or love. If you did not know Mr. Broussard from bowling, fishing, or hunting, you knew him as the “Air Conditioning Man.” Tony was a proud sole business owner for over 40 years and the founder of Tony’s AC and Appliance Repair. He served customers across Southwest Louisiana and often traveled to North Louisiana and East Texas. His experience in HVAC and appliance repair also led him to work for the Calcasieu Parish School Board, Players Casino and to secure contracts with local apartment complexes.

Tony was known for his generosity, storytelling, an infectious laugh, love for sports, horses and Historically Black Colleges and Universities. When you saw him, you were certain to notice HBCU apparel, specifically Grambling State University. He enjoyed local high school football games, parades, and never missed the annual Jamboree between Lake Charles-Boston and Washington-Marion, Grambling’s first game, homecoming and trips to SWAC football games.

Antoine is preceded in death by his parents, Adam and Odelia Broussard, sisters, Theresa Morris née Broussard, Marie Friday née Broussard, Agnes Cormier née Broussard, Elizabeth Broussard and great-grandson, Larry Lavergne. He is survived by his children Jacqueline (Stafford) Vital, Yolanda Goodwin née Broussard and Gerald Broussard. He is affectionately called “Pawpaw” by all his grandchildren that include ten grandchildren, Olympia, Victoria, Stafford Jr., Antoine, Daniel Jr., Stephanie, Danielle, Reginald Jr., Gerald Jr., and Alexia, also twenty-one great-grandchildren, Ericka, Darian, Courtlyn, Daehan, Lay’Lonie, Taylor, Zoey, Gerren, Marcus Jr., Maison, Xion, Skylor, Stephen, Journee, Ma’leek, Larry, Ma’Kayla, Daniel III, Alasia, Bryleigh, Royalty, and two great-great-grandchildren, Kayleigh and Vincent.
