Barbara Faye (Maxwell) Barnhill

Barbara Faye Maxwell-Barnhill was born on July 21, 1938 in Elizabeth, La to the late Sam and Elizabeth Maxwell.

Growing up, Barbara was an active and independent child. After graduating high school, she set out for the big city and moved to Detroit, where she lived with her aunt and uncle, Maude & Buck Jones.

She received X-ray technician training at Detroit Receiving Hospital where she worked as an x-ray technician for many years. She worked for The Wellness Plan for many years.

She enjoyed singing, traveling, shopping and entertaining. She relocated to Lake Charles a few years ago to be near family. Here, she attended Reeves Temple CME Church where she was a member of the Adult Sunday School Class. She sang in the Sr. Choir, Prayer Choir and special event choirs.

 She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel “Jimmy” Barnhill. Although she had no children of her own, she was a loving and giving aunt to her nieces & nephews.

Barbara is survived by her sister, Shelby (John) Rigmaiden,6 nieces & nephews, a special friend Sharon Welcome as well as a host of extended family and friends.

Barbara will be greatly missed but forever in our hearts.
