Catherine Wilson Obituary

Catherine Thibodeaux Wilson was born on September 16, 1939, in Opelousas, Louisiana, to the late Leo Paul and Alice Bellard Thibodeaux. On this earthly side of life, Catherine peacefully transitioned to her eternal home at the age of eighty-six.

Catherine was raised in a home filled with love, laughter, and lively conversation. As the youngest of ten children, she learned early how to hold her own and make her voice heard. She carried that same bold spirit throughout her life. A lifelong Catholic, Catherine’s faith and devotion to family remained central to who she was.

In her younger years, Catherine worked diligently as a field worker and later as a domestic worker. No matter the setting, she brought care, warmth, and a sense of home wherever she served, creating spaces that felt nurturing and safe to those around her. In 1964, Catherine married Enell Wilson, and together they made their home in Lake Charles, Louisiana. Though their marriage was brief due to his passing in 1975, it was marked by love and companionship.

Catherine was known for her candid nature and quick wit. She was never at a loss for words and never hesitant to say exactly what was on her mind. With Catherine, there was no guessing she spoke from the heart, and people always knew where they stood. In her quieter moments, she found enjoyment in watching her favorite soap operas, taking pleasure in simple routines that brought her comfort.

Catherine was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Enell Wilson; two brothers, Alex Thibodeaux and Rufus Thibodeaux; seven sisters, Estella Lavergne, Ella Mae Frances, Isabella Carter, Elrine Hanney, Wilda Bellard, Florence Green, and Lillian Henney; and one cherished granddaughter, Candace Wilson.

She leaves to cherish her memory four daughters: Elaine Wilson of Beaumont, Texas; Carolyn Moore of Garland, Texas; Carla Wilson and Stephanie “Tiff” Gobert, both of Lake Charles, Louisiana. She is also survived by two grandsons, Harold Wilson and Shannon Bell; three granddaughters, Skylar Moore, Melissa Allen, and Seleste Gobert; five great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Ida Williams; three brothers-in-law, Hilliard Wilson, Elwood Wilson, and Louis Wilson; along with a host of relatives and friends who will remember her honesty, strength, and unmistakable presence.
