Christine Tatum-Collins was born on January 27, 1944 to John Tatman, Sr. and Virginia Breaux-Tatman in Gold Dust, Louisiana. Christine attended Paul Dunbar Lawrence High School in Washington, Louisiana, only to the ninth grade, but with an enormous affinity to sewing and culinary delicacies. She and her family joined Evangel Temple Christ Holy Sanctified Church in 1977 under the leadership of Pastor Evangelist Bishop Georgia E. Jones. She continued to follow in Christ under the leadership of Bishop Jones’ daughter, Bishop Erika L. Braxter of Lake Charles, Louisiana. Christine was a woman of great faith and a minister of the Word. She was full of love and a very strong woman.
She is preceded in death by five (5) of her nine (9) brothers and sisters, John Tatman, Jr., Lilly Mae Tatman, Joseph Tatman, all of Lake Charles; Helen Dabine of Beaumont, Texas; and Elnora Rhines of St. Landry Parish, Louisiana.
She leaves behind a husband of 55 years, Frank Collins, Sr.; her seven (7) children, Frank Collins, Jr., Patricia Collins, John W. (Felisa) Collins, Corey (Michelle) Collins, Warren (Latrice) Collins, Ida M. (Kinte) Collins-Washington, and Reuben Collins; her grandchildren; her great grandchildren; many who called her ‘mom’; numerous other family members and friends. Christine Tatman-Collins leaves many loving memories. She may be gone, but she will never be forgotten!!
