PRECIOUS MEMORIES
On a late spring day, June 8, 1941 in Orange, Texas,a beautiful baby girl was born to
the late Haywood and Evelina ( Evelyn ) Shelton. They named their new bundle of joy,
Claudetta Shelton, better known to many as Claudette. The family moved to Westlake, LA.
Claudette attended grade school in Westlake and later spent her high school years at
Mossville High School, from which she graduated in 1960. While in Mossville High, she met
the “love of her life”, the late Louis J. Scott. Shortly after graduation, the two married and
they moved to “land of milk and honey” ( California ). The couple had no children. They
thoroughly enjoyed life together.
After many years in California, they moved back home. Claudette became the care-taker for
her aging mother. She transitioned early Monday morning on November 16, 2020. She leaves
to cherish her memories: Her 106 year old mother, Evelyn Shelton; her brother of Lake Charles,
Robert L. Shelton, Sr. ; her sister, Elvira Scott of San Francisco, California; her Godchild
Tanya ( Tammy ) Bluford; other nieces ,nephews, cousins and friends.
Claudetta ( Claudette ) will forever be in our hearts.
LET ME GO
When I come to the end of the road
And the sun has set for me
I want no rites in a gloom filled room
Why cry for a soul set free?
Miss me a little, but not for long
And not with your head bowed low.
Remember the love that once we shared
Miss me but “Let me go”.
