Delores Turner Obituary

Delores Diane DeBlanc Turner 70, entered into eternal rest on Monday, February 25, 2019-11:30am at Christus St. Patrick Hospital under the care of Heart of Hospice Care.

Delores was a life-long resident of Lake Charles, La.  She was a 1966 graduate of Washington High School, attended McNeese State University, and a graduate of Sowela Technical College.  While in school at Sowela, she worked at St. Patrick Hospital.  Later, she was employed at Imperial Calcasieu Regional Planning and Development Commission (IMCAL) as a City Planner for 39 years until her retirement,

Delores loved the Lord.  As a child and young adult, she was a member of Woodbury Congregational United Church of Christ.  As an adult, she joined Zion Tabernacle Baptist Church and later, New Covenant Faith Baptist Church, both under the leadership of Pastor Jimmy R. Stevens.

If you knew Delores, you know that besides loving the Lord and her family, she enjoyed the game of football.  She knew the rules, the teams, the players, and their stats.. And everyone knows her favorite team-The New Orleans Saints!  During off season, she would watch re-runs as if they were brand new, and have you hollering right along with her.  Not only have we lost a beloved family member (the matriarch of the family) and friend, the Saints have lost a true fan.

Delores was a loving mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, family member and friend.  She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Ruth DeBlanc, grandparents, Claude Wright, Bertha (Arthur) Welcome, (1) aunt, Ruby Richardson, (1) cousin, Rev. John Richardson Sr. (2) uncles-Clarence Benoit, Ronnie Wright, (1) niece, Eboni Banks.

Those left to cherish her memory and mourn her lose are her three children, Adarienne (Tristan) DeBlanc-Wilson of Houston, Tx. and Jamaica, James (Jerrilynn) DeBlanc II and Elvin Troy (Chrisalynn Bradford) Turner Sr. all of Lake Charles, La.  Delores has 7 grandchildren, Danie'le (Leland), Gregory Jr., Troy Jr., Cameron, Tiajeney, Kiara and Jalaila, (2) great grandchildren, Kelsey and Kasey, (5) sisters, Barbara Johnson, Toni Eaglin, Evelyn (Donald) Broussard, Janice (Gregory) Banks, and Sylvia (Leroy) Cole.  Extended family-Connie Williams and family, & the Milligan family.  BFF's Joan Anderson Augustus (50+years), Roxanne Bordelon (30+years) and great niece, Sha'la Gallien.  Godchild-Dee Dee Sterling, numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins and other family members (California, Louisiana, Texas and Tennessee), and friends.  She will be greatly missed by all
