Demetrie Marie Bushnell

Demetrie Marie Bushnell, departed this life on Wednesday, May 18, 2022, at St. Patrick Hospital in Lake Charles, LA. She was born December 25, 1952, to Jessie Bushnell Sr. and Gertrude Brignac.

**Demetrie worked at C.A.R.C. as a caregiver for several years. She loved caring for others. She had heart of gold and was always there. She also loved to cook, crochet, dance, and have fun. Demetrie’s twinkling eyes and beautiful smile would light up a room, but it was her heart that taught her children to love, to have faith in our Lord Jesus, and in the power of prayer. Her incredible spirit taught us to pursue and never give up, to make the best out of every situation, and live our lives to the best of our abilities. Our mother was a blessing to all her children and grandchildren. She was known to many as Momma Dee. Her hugs, kisses and telling us how much she loved us will be missed so very much!

The world lost a beautiful soul, but heaven gained a Stunning Angel.

She is survived by her mother, Gertrude Brignac of Lake Charles, LA; two daughters, Cresenthia Marie Bushnell and Ashley Elizabeth Bushnell both of Lake Charles, LA; five sons, John (Margaret) Bushnell Sr. of Jacksonville, FL, Jack Bushnell, Demetrius Bushnell, Jessie Bushnell, and Joseph Bushnell Sr. all of Lake Charles, LA; seven sisters, Mary (Danny) Leblanc, Sheila Foxall, Kathy (Joe) Delafosse all of Lake Charles, LA, Gertrude Lynn Foxall from San Lorenzo, CA, Mildred Brignac of Sacramento, CA, Jeannie (Jimmie) Slate of Oberlin, LA, and Mary (Jimmie) Ford of Fannett, TX; five brothers, Michael (Jennifer) Foxall, Aaron Brignac, and Marshall Bushnell all of Lake Charles, LA, Johnny Bushnell and Bobby (LaSonda) Thomas both of Oberlin, LA; seven grandchildren, Jermaine Beverly of Harvey, LA, Delania Owens and Demetrick Lafleur both of Hattiesburg, MS, Jenea Bushnell of Pearland, TX, D’metriona Broussard and Joseph Bushnell Jr. both of Lake Charles, LA, and John Bushnell Jr. of Jacksonville, FL; one great grandchild, Karter Cashtyn Emmanuel Hibbler ; three godchildren, Anthony Tillman, Marshall Bushnell, and Allen Foxall all of Lake Charles, LA; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends

Demetrie was preceded in death by her father, Jessie Bushnell Sr., maternal grandparents Walter and Pauline Brignac; two brothers, Jessie Bushnell Jr., and Jeffrey Bushnell Sr.; four sisters, Juanita Foxall, Pamela Foxall, Michelle Brignac, and Ezola Bushnell; one grandson, Demerick Owens; three nephews, Christopher Foxall, Matthew Duhon, and Andrew Duhon; her godfather Andrew Brignac, and one godchild, Paul Boutte.
