Edwin Young was born on August 29, 1956 to the late Louis & Dorothy (Ewing) Young, Sr. in Lake Charles, LA. He was a dedicated and hardworking employee at Aramark for 12 years and McNeese State University for 29 years until he retired. He was well known on campus as "Mr. Ed". Everyone loved him so much and knew how much he loved The McNeese Cowboys. He wore his McNeese gear faithfully. He would always say something to make you laugh or put a smile on your face. It was always great moments with him.
Edwin passed away on August 28, 2020 at Harbor Hospice in Dallas, TX at the age of 63. He leaves to cherish one daughter Shelly Re'nee Stevens-Jones (Lee); three grandchildren; Keylon Jurell Stevens, Ere 'Onia Nicole & Ke'Onia J'Nae White, two sisters, Sarah Antoine and Louise Young-Joseph; one step-sister Winnie Marie Mouton-Delafosse; two step-brothers, Daniel Mouton and Thomas Mouton, Sr., all of Lake Charles, LA, one sister in law Doris Young of Brownsville, TX and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives & friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Louis & Dorothy (Ewing) Young, Sr., his stepmother; Geraldine Young, three sisters, Martha Young-Lewis, Ruth Young and Edna Bell Bonner; one brother; Louis Young, Jr., one half-sister Becky Victorian, one step-sister, Mahalia Mouton, one niece, Geraldine Lynette Young, and four brothers in law, Floyd Joseph, Raymond Antoine, Johnny Lewis and Alfred Bonner, Jr.
Graveside service for Edwin Young will be held September 24th at Combre Memorial Park, 2701 Opelousas St, Lake Charles, LA. Visitation will be at 12:40p.m. Service will be at 1p.m. officiating by Bishop Raymond C. Young, Sr. Pastor Emeritus Mt. Carmel MBC Orange, TX.
