Frank James Wesley was born on March 13, 1955 in Monroe, Louisiana to the late Rena Simien Alex and was also the son of Ben and Olevia Tatmon.
He was a faithful and lifelong member of Christian Baptist Church for 50 plus years under the leadership of Dr. W.C. Clark and Rev. Edward Alexander Jr. serving as Chairman of the Deacon Board for several decades. He was the youngest Deacon to serve on the Board and youngest Deacon President in the history of Christian Baptist Church. In his younger years, he was a faithful participant in the Area Wide Youth Week Observance. Bro Wesley was well known in the Calcasieu Baptist Missionary Baptist Association, Louisiana Missionary Baptist State Convention, and the National Baptist Convention. He was President of the Brotherhood that later changed to the Laymen Brotherhood and served as President of the National Baptist Junior Laymen Movement for National Baptist Convention USA, Inc. He organized and served as Director of the S.T.O.P. Club mentoring and teaching Christian youth boys, served and held office on the Trustee Board, later renamed Board of Directors, taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School, served on the building committee for the construction of the Sanctuary, participated in the Men's Day Chorus, and was a recipient of the W.C. Clark Laymen's Memorial Award as Christian Baptist Church, named "Man of the Year". He traveled from state to state ministering the word of God, but with all of those accomplishments and accolades established on earth, he was a dedicated and faithful servant.
He was united in holy matrimony to Gilda Marie isaac-Wesley for 41 years and from this union one daughter was born, Dr. Felisia Janean Wesley-Profit (Houston, tx.) Frank was blessed with one granddaughter, Laila Marie Profit (Houston, Tx.) and godfather to Elesha Jones Martin of Houston, Tx.,
Frank is a graduate of Lake Charles High School Class of 1973. He was a graduate of McNeese State University with a B.A., Completed Alternative Teacher Education Program, Master's Degree Plus 30 Graduate Hours, M. Ed., McNeese State University. He worked as an educator at Washington Marion High School where he was the Speech and Debate Coach. He was Director of Organization Development Training US Unwired/Sprint PCS, Chief Financial Officer with SWLA Center for Health Services, Children's Health Fund. He was Program Monitor (with Consumer Services) with the Louisiana Dept. of Health, Office of Behavioral Health Baton Rouge, La. Throughout the years Frank was well grounded in his faith and community service. He served as a member of the board for Community initiatives Foundation, worked on developing the second initiative Take Care, which focuses on reducing generational poverty and insured childrens readiness for school.
He leaves to mourn but cherish his legacy, his wife of 41 years, Gilda isaac Wesley; his duaghter, Dr. Felisia J. Wesley-Profit of Houston, T.x and one granddaughter, Laila Marie Profit. He also leaves to cherish memories, five sisters, Barbara Malbrough, Betty, (Jerrell-Dysynske) of California, Wilda (Michael) Collins of Houston, Tx., Cynthia (Michael) Alexander of Lake Charles, La., Lorena Simien of Lake Charels, La.; brothers, Luke (Rita) Metoyer of California, Larry Scott (deceased); extended family, Noah Lewis (Rosa Bea deceased) Bryan, Noah Wayne, and Schirrell Lewis Robinson and a host of other relatives and friends.
