My mother....In sickness and in health she was a wildflower. The greatest gift a man can ask for. The love of my life, and it was my pleasure to take care of her. To have known her is to have known God. Until we meet again....my heart.
Gayla Marie Williams was born in Lake Charles, La. on November 19th, 1955 to Mary and Gayle Wilson.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Wilson, father, Gayle Wilson, brother, Errol Wilson, nephew, Errol Wilson Jr., Aunt, Rosalie Kelly, aunt, Lily Mae Warrick, and granddaughter, Layla Coffey.
Her memories remain with her brother, Kenneth and Pearline Kelly, sister, Cynthia Pierre, cousin "sister" Priscilla Shelton, cousin, Rachel Warrick and cousin Bee. She will forever be cherished by her son, Marlon Williams II, daughters, Kayla "Williams" Coffey, Shante "Williams" Dale, and Jerica Word. She leaves behind a host of grandchildren, Jeremiah Word, Micah, Josiah, and Daniel Word, Mary Word, Grace Word, Kalilah Coffey, Ariyele Coffey, and the newest addition, Dante Dale; Along with many nieces and nephews.
Gayla Williams was a celebrated teacher at DeQueen Elementary in Port Arthur, TX. She taught elementary Reading Resource classes, 1st grade English and Writing and 4th Grade English and Writing. She fell ill in December of 2009 and with the tireless help of so many loved ones, Gayla lived a long fruitful life for 13 more years in spite of the odds. She trusted in God with relentless faith.
