Henry Clay Green Sr. was born on October 3, 1922 to Oscar Clay Green and Louise Gainey in New Orleans, LA..  Henry earned his heavenly wings on Sunday, January 23, 2022 at St. Patrick Hospital.  At the age of 99, our beloved Dad, PawPaw, Nephew, and Cousin left this earth with a sound mind.

Henry grew up in New Orleans, LA.  After high school, he joined the United States Army.  He served in World War II as Staff Sergeant and was the recipient of the EAME Service Metal with 2 Bronze Service Stars, Good Conduct Medal, and American Theater Ribbon.  After the military, he moved back to New Orleans, LA to learn the craft as a plasterer and later relocated to Lake Charles, LA where he became one of the first African American Plasterers.  He retired after working over 45 years in the Plasterer industry.  During his leisure time, he enjoyed watching westerns, reading the entire newspaper, and cheering on his favorite teams the New Orleans Saints and Seattle Seahawks.

He leaves behind to continue his celebration of life and to cherish his memories are ten children, Elmo (Sarah) Green, Michael Green, Diana Carter, Oscar (Altha) Green, Bobby (Sandra) Green Sr., and Isabel Briscoe all of Lake Charles, LA, Curtis Green of Houston, TX, Alfreida (James) Bell of Marion, IN, Robbie (Barbara) Green of Dallas, TX, and Rochelle Green of Pearland, TX.  He also leaves to mourn and share in his memories, Aunt Elvena Bryant, 105 years old of Houston, TX and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Oscar Green and Louise Gainey; his stepmother, Artie Green; his sister, Mary Morgan; his sons, Henry Green Jr. and Victor Green, and the mother of his children, Mary June Schexnayder along with a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins.
