Henry Thomas, 90, of Lake Charles, Louisiana, peacefully passed away on 03/08/2021. He was born to parents Beatrice Thomas and Joseph Ardus Thomas, on 03/05/1931 in Mamou, Louisiana.
Henry Thomas was known and respected a skilled carpenter and craftsman. He and his beloved wife, Wilma Thomas established their own General Contracting company, known as H & W Thomas Contractors, which remained in business for over 25 years. Henry Thomas was one of the first licensed & bonded African American General Contractors in the Southwest Louisiana area. He was responsible for building and remodeling many churches and residences in Lake Charles and surrounding cities. He also took the time to teach and train many carpenters who have been able to start their own carpentry and construction businesses.
Henry Thomas is survived by Teri Thomas - daughter; Aneeda McIntyre - daughter (James Shelton McIntyre, spouse); Theron Peterson - son (Jackie Peterson, spouse); Kerry Thompson - son (Judithe Thompson, spouse); Stephanie Prescott - daughter (Jimmy Prescott, spouse); and Timothy Peterson - son. Additionally, Mr. Thomas leaves to mourn a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and loved ones. He was preceded in death by his darling wife, Wilma Thomas, as well as all of his brothers and sisters.
