JL (Bo Bo) passed away Friday, December 14, 2018 at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center in Baton Rouge at the age of 93. He was born October 19, 1925, to the union of John A. and Eartha White Cooks in Reader, Arkansas. He spent most of his adult life in Dequincy, La. and was the oldest of eight children. He retired from Missouri Pacific Railroad (Union Pacific) after 40 plus years of service.
He leaves to cherish his memory six children, Brenda J. Cooks, Linda Narcisse (Johnny), Edwin Cooks (Jocelyn), Baton Rouge, LA, Urlecia Cooks, Germantown, MD, Dana Staves (John), Raleigh, NC and LaShanda Bridges (Elzey II), Sulphur, LA.; sisters-in-law, Rose Cooks, Dequincy, LA., Brenda F. Cooks, Orange, TX and Lucille Mallet, Los Angeles, CA; brother in law, Wesley Wells Dequincy, LA; 11 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends., especially the staff and residents of Whealdon Estates. He was preceded in death by his wife, Cecelia Alexander Cooks, parents, sisters: Cornelius Wells, Carrie Fontenot, Gertha Chachere, and Mildred Cooks; brothers, Willie (Buddy), Lionel and Paul Cooks Sr.; sister-in-law, Marjorie Cooks; brothers-in-law, Charles Fontenot and Herman Chachere.
