Jeanette Malone Obituary

Jeanette (Stevenson) Malone was born January 13, 1949, to the late Mr. & Mrs. Oscar Stevenson.  She was called to her heavenly home on Monday January 27, 2025, at the age of 76, after a brief hospital stay.  Jeanette was born and raised in DeQuincy, LA. and later moved to Lake Charles, LA where she met and married the love of her life Jerrell Malone.  To this union, their one and only child Jerrell Keith Malone was born.  She will always be remembered for the great support she provided to her family in assisting wherever she was needed.

Jeanette graduated from Grand Avenue High School, in DeQuincy, LA.  She had a close bond with her classmates over the years.  They shared many memories together through varies activities, class reunion balls, vacations together and more.  She was employed by St. Patrick Hospital as an OB Tech for 25 plus years.

Ms. Jeanette Malone held a major role at the Lake Charles Senior Center. Her passing is an enormous loss and will forever impact everyone here. She was a dedicated member and participated in many of our day to day activities. She became a member of the Calcasieu Council On Aging Board of Directors on June 28, 2016. She remained on the Board of Directors until July 23, 2021. She was also a member of the Lake Charles Senior Center’s Advisory Board. Her role with the Calcasieu Council On Aging did not stop there. Mrs. Jeanette’s love for crocheting offered the Center a great opportunity. She held weekly crochet classes and she was able to share her skills and guidance with others. She was a dedicated Bingo participant and caller. She supported us in many ways. Mrs. Jeanette volunteered a big chunk of her time here and we are Blessed to have had shared that time with her. She was a great friend to many and she will deeply be missed and forever remembered. Mrs. Jeanette will forever hold a special place in our hearts!

Jeanette was a faithful member of Messiah Missionary Baptist Church where she served as Deaconess, Art & Craft Director for Vacation Bible School, contributed to the church annual picnic and she also worked as Assistant in Culinary Department.  She was a member of the New Light Association, Louisiana Home & Foreign Mission Baptist State.

After Hurricane Laura, she reunited with her home church Evergreen Missionary Baptist Church Mission in DeQuincy, LA.  She served on the following committees, Sunday School, Bible Study, Treasurer of Benevolent Fund, Culinary Committee, Transportation Committee, Hospitality Committee and Pastor Aid Committee.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Dorothy Williams, two brothers Hayward Frank and Arthur Joseph Stevenson.  She leaves to cherish memories one son Jerrell Keith Malone, five grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Along with a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends and classmates.
