Jerome Kent Waters was born November 14, 1960, in San Diego, California. Jerome and his twin brother Jeffery Kim Waters, the youngest of six children born to Calvin and Carrie Waters.
His father preceded him in death.
Jerome attended Chollas Elementary, Samuel Gompers Junior High, and Abraham Lincoln High School.
Jerome played baseball at Southeast Little League. He was a skilled back-catcher. Growing up he and his brothers often fished at Chollas Lake. Fishing has always been a passion. Playing dominoes was a favorite pastime for Jerome. He loved nature and the outdoors.
Jerome accepted Christ and was baptized at New Century Baptist Church in Rubidoux CA under the leadership of Pastor Lloyd N. Ellis, Jr. He later joined Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church in San Pedro CA under Pastor Leo Thomas. After relocating to DeQuincy, he united with Evergreen Missionary Baptist Church, under Pastor James B. Harris. He served as an usher.
While in DeQuincy Jerome was employed by the Railroad Transportation Company and Dequincy Memorial Hospital. He used his landscaping skills to start a lawn-cutting business serving the community. He was often referred to as Mr. Fix-it. Jerome was an avid sports fan.
On June 20, 2023, Jerome peacefully departed this life to be with the Lord. He leaves to cherish his memories his mother, Carrie Dixon, brothers; Jeffery Waters(twin), George Waters, Moby Dixon, Bryan Dixon, sisters; Teeny Ellis (Lloyd), Roberta Barry (Doug) Rebecca Keahey (Tony), Cathy Dixon Williams, Julia Dixon, nieces; Jamila Ellis, Kristin Murray, nephews; Sadiki Ellis, Timothy Keahey, Stephen Keahey, Jeffery Waters II, Khalid Waters, DeSean Waters, Kalvin Waters and Jerimiah Waters, aunt Clara Jefferson, uncle Alton Waters and a host of cousins, neighbors and close friends. He will be greatly missed.
