He was born on February 24, 1946 in McGehee, Arkansas and was a resident of North Las Vegas.

He is survived by his wife, Dianna Senegal Taylor; four children, Richard G. Shingleton, Madeline (Michael) James, Adriene Shingleton, and Jowanna Taylor-MIchelin; 5 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren; his mother, Missie R. Taylor; 8 siblings and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his son, Alfred.
