Jonathan Neal Bernard

Jonathan Neal Bernard "Boss" born on July 22, 2004 to Laken Wilrye and Jadon Hawkins. He passed away on July 13, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unforgettable memories.  A native of Lake Charles, Louisiana, Jonathan attended Washington-Marion High School. He was known for his athleticism, quiet spirit, and warm smile that could  light up any room.

He worked diligently in the Lake Charles area, always striving to provide for himself and build a future for his beloved son, Ja'Kaie Nazier Bernard.  A devoted son, father, brother, and friend, Jonathan found joy in the simple moments of life-whether cooking up a favorite dish, laughing with family, and spending time with those he loved most.

Jonathan will be deeply missed by all who knew him.  He is survived by his loving mother, Laken Wilrye; father, Jadon Hawkins; cherished son, Ja'Kaie Nazier Bernard; brother, Matthew Higginbotham; sister, Aryanna Harris; grandmother, Carolyn Goodly; uncle, Brandon Wilrye' and girlfriend, Kindria Brown.  He also leaves behind a host of extended family and friends who were touched by his kind heart and bright smile.

Jonathan was preceded in death by his grandfather, Gary Goodly, and his great-grandparents, Curley (Alberta) Wilrye and great grandparents, Elry (Geraldine) Goodly.

If you met him, you got to encounter his smile-and it was unforgettable.

Jonathan's memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
