Major John Stills Jr. Obituary

Major John D. Stills Jr. 78 of Lake Charles, La. passed away on Sunday, April 18, 2021 at Harbour Hospice.

John was the eldest son of John D. Stills Sr. and Gussie Dobbins.  He graduate from Booker T. Washington in Shreveport, La.  He then attended and graduated from Southern University.  He enlisted in the U.S. Army and retired as a Major.  John dedicated most of his life to serving other war veterans.  After retiring from the Army.  John went on to teach Chemisty and Mathematics and the Calcasieu Parish School System.

He was a 59 year member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity.  Also a very active member of VFW Post 7321, Mayor's Arm Forces Committee, Military Officers Association of America and many other organizations.

Cherishing his memory is his loving wife, Ester Charles Stills of Lake Charles; children, Terrance (Lori) Stills of Houston, Texas, El-Melech (Nadirah) Stills-Bey of Oakland, Ca., Christopher (Tina) Stills of Lake Charles,; one stepson, Mark E. (Daphene) Stevenson of Zachary, La.; one stepdaughter, Sharon (Casey) Stevenson Johnson of Houston, Texas; siblings,  Alvin Ray (Judy) Preston Sr. of Shreveport, La., Odessa (Stanley) Freeman of Long Beach, Ca., Alice Pearl Johnson (the late Henry), Danny Earl (Nancy) Stills of Shreveport, La., Linda Stills Catanese (the late Joseph Sr.), Joyce M. Stills, Cheryl Stills, David Stills, Rosemary (Cedric) Hayes all of Shreveport, La.
