Martha Rae Lemelle

Martha Rae Lemelle, 67 departed this life on Wednesday March 13, 2024 in Lake Charles, LA. She was born January 2, 1957 to Charles Lemelle and Martha Gordon-Lemelle in Lake Charles, LA.

Martha graduated from W. O. Boston High School in 1975 and furthered her education at Sowela Nursing School in Lake Charles. She was employed at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital for 19 years and later employed by­ ­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­Home Health 2000 in physical therapy for some years and finished her career as a home health aide.

Martha loved watching sports, especially basketball and football, and listening to music. She also enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.  Always cooking up some gumbo or okra for her family.

Fond memories of Martha will always remain in the hearts of her loving family members:  one sister, Beverly (Dexter) Lewis, New Jersey, one brother, James Charles (Deirdre) Lemelle, Lake Charles, her life-long companion, Leron Calligan,  Lake Charles, one nephew, Dustin DC Lewis, New York, one niece, Tiffany Lemelle, Lake Charles, one great niece, Aubrey Lewis, New Jersey, two aunts, Dorothy Gordon, Baton Rouge, LA and Thelma Johnson, Eugene, OR and a host of cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Martha Gordon-Lemelle.
