Mary Nell (Edwards) Shaw

Mary Nell Edwards Shaw passed away peacefully on February 27, 2025 at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital.  She was born on June 14, 1950 in Washington, Louisiana, to her loving parents, Hosea Edwards and Ellen Stephens Edwards.

Mary was a proud graduate of W.O. Boston High School in Lake Charles, Louisiana.  In August of 1975, she married James Darrell Shaw, and from this union, welcomed one daughter, Angie.  She dedicated over 30 years of service as a manager at Sears, where she was known for her strong work ethic and leadership.

Mary was baptized at an early age.  She united with Mount Pilgrim Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Harvey Lawson, now under Pastor Ellis J. Kemper III.  She was a devoted member of the church, actively serving as Deaconess, on the Culinary Ministry, The Women's Ministry, secretary of the Women's Sunday School Class, and Seasoned Saints Fellowship.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Hosea and Ellen Edwards; her brothers, Samuel Edwards Sr., Frederick Edwards, and Bobby Edwards Sr.; her sisters, Annie Bell Carmon, Annie Pearl Nettles, Betty Jean Bell, Beatrice Edwards, and Doris Marie Edwards.

Mary leaves behind her loving husband, James Darrell Shaw; her beloved daughter, Angie (Derrick) Booker; her cherished grandson, Dallas Booker; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends who will forever treasure her memory.

Her legacy of faith, kindness, and dedication to family and community will always be remembered.
