Merle “ Blue Steel “ Cobb was 71 years old when he transitioned to his eternal home on January 17, 2024. Merle was born in Lafayette, Louisiana on May 12, 1952 to the late Ollie and Jennie Durouso Cobb. Baptized by Fr. Hebert Schuster at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. He continued in faith worshipping at Fatima Chapel until his departure, trusting God's word. Psalm 37:4 Be happy that the Lord is your friend and He will give you what you want most.
Merle lived adventurously. After attending Washington High School, he was drafted to the United States Army where he served a foreign tour of duty. He returned to Lake Charles, LA where he worked as a Longshoreman for the Port of Lake Charles and as a cement finisher for over 30 years. Merle then decided to do what he loved most-fishing, hunting, boating and the use of what his Daddy taught him, finding his passion-Bee Keeping. He removed hives and cared for them while harvesting fresh honey. Some lovingly named him "The Bee Man".
Merle is preceded in death by his parents, Ollie & Jennie Cobb, brother, McDonald Cobb and daughter, Kristen Necole Jones.
Left to cherish his memories are his sons, Donald Johnwell, and Michael Disnuke; sisters, Tinnie Declouette, Patricia Preston and Artie Chretien all of Lake Charles.
A graveside memorial will be held , Thursday February 1, 2024 at 10: 00 A.M in Southwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery, 1610 Evangeline Road, Jennings, LA. 70546
