Michael G. Staton

On Saturday, January 19, 2019 Michael Gerard Staton transitioned from his earthly home to his heavenly home.

On July 7, 1961 God blessed the union of Gloria and Elwood Chatman with a wonderful baby son Michael and as he spent his younger years growing up in Lake Charles, he was adopted at the age of three years old and reared by his adopted father Leroy Staton of Suisun City, Ca.  

Michael attended Calcasieu Parish public schools where he achieved many awards for his football accomplishments.  He graduated from Lake Charles High School in 1978 and was enlisted in the United States Marines immediately after.

He was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Gloria Staton; brother, Mark A. Chatman; grandparents, George and Ida Nonette; uncles, George Nonette Jr., David Nonette, and aunt, Roxie Nonette Manuel.

He leaves to cherish his memories with his father, Leroy (Odessa) Staton Sr. of Suisun City, Ca.; brothers, Leroy Staton II of Highland, Ca., Elwood (Irma Jean) Staton of Lake Charles, La.; sister, Tamie Staton of Lake Charles, La.; biological father, Elwood (Nora) Chatman of Lake Charles, La.; half sister, Shatonia Chatman McCarty of Lake Charles, La.; uncles, Leon Nonette of Knoxville, TN and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.
