Rev. D.L. Mackey was born in Grant, Louisiana and later moved to DeRidder, Louisiana. He met and wed the lovely Dr. Bernice Ned Mackey, while working in Lake Charles to this union three children were born.

Wife of 50 years, Dr. Bernice Mackey; daughters, Minister Donna M. Mackey, Joy J. Mackey; granddaughter, Octavia A. Mackey; son in love, Charles (Malinda) Stevens; brothers, Elbert (Brenda) Mackey of Iowa, Louisiana, Robert (Carlos) Mackey of Dequincy, Louisiana, Ivory (Maryland) Webster of Pasadena, California; Brother and Best Friend, George (Evelyn) Gordon; Brothers in Law, Gervis (Isie) Ned, Michael (Connie) Ned of Lake Charles, Louisiana, Marvin (Ann) Carter of Dallas, Texas and a host of relatives and close friends.
