Robert Adams, Jr., also known as “Lap Louisiana Lighting”, 84, was born September 5, 1939, in Sunset, Louisiana, to the late Robert and Mable Smith Adams. He was a native of Sunset, Louisiana, and lived in the Westlake and Mossville area most of his life before moving to the Moss Bluff, Lake Charles area. Robert lived in the Moss Bluff area for fifteen years before relocating to Montgomery, Alabama, where he resided with his daughter and grandson (Ramona and Amory) for the last three years.
Robert accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Good Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Westlake, Louisiana. He later became a member of the Philadelphia Church of God in Christ, where he served as senior deacon of the church.
Robert was a 1958 graduate of Mossville High School and married the love of his life “Lillie Mae Henry”. To this union, three children were born “Rhonda, Reginald, and Ramona”. As a long-distance truck driver for over 35 years, he was previously employed by Cesco (formerly Brown & Ferris, Ind., -BFI), Carr Trucking, and later retired from Chemical Waste Management.
Robert leaves to cherish his memories his two daughters, Rhonda (Eric) Williams of League City, Texas, and Ramona Adams-Scott of Montgomery, Alabama; his sister and brother-in-law Shirley Adams (Raymond) Rochon; five grandsons, Brandon Adams, Derrick Alexander, Tory Curtis, Marlin Adams, and Amory Scott; five great-grandchildren Laila and Lyre Curtis, Alyiah and Dylan Alexander, and Zayden Adams; one surviving aunt, Viola Adams Johnson; and his pet dog, Kai, who was his second love; along with a host of other relatives and friends.
Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Lillie Mae Henry Adams; his son, Reginald James Adams; his parents, Robert, Sr., and Mable Smith Adams; his sister, Mary Catherine Adams Matthews; maternal grandparents, Alfred, and Philomen Jasper Smith; paternal grandparents, Frank Adams Sr., and Regina Lastrape Adams; aunts and uncles; other relatives; and close friends of the family.
