Roslyn Mitchell Obituary

Mrs. Roslyn Denise Mitchell was born on July 7, 1963 in Lake Charles, Louisiana and raised in DeQuincy, Louisiana.  She was the third child of Mrs. Betty Olivier Cooks and Mr. Lionel Cooks.  Roslyn transitioned from Earth and gained her wings on April 26, 2024.

Roslyn graduated from McNeese State University.  She was a trustworthy co-worker, volunteer, and friend who made a positive impact on the lives of others.

On November 22, 1993, Roslyn married Floyd Mitchell.  They lived in Lake Charles, Louisiana, with their beloved dog Abby, and became an integral part of the local community.  Roslyn worshiped at New Covenant Faith Baptist Church in Lake Charles, where she was a valued member of their exceptional choir and served as a Deaconess.

Roslyn enjoyed traveling with her family, especially to warm destinations, where she always found time to relax at the pool or on the beach.

Roslyn was preceded in death by her loving parents and her beloved brother, Lionel Jeroid Cooks, as well as her dear dog Obie.

She is survived by her wonderful husband Floyd, her sons, Terriance Anthony Spiller Jr. and Christpher Jeroid Spiller, as well as her daughter in law Veronica, and her grandchildren Asainey Edwards, Ebony, Xavier, and Gabriel Spiller.  Roslyn is also survived by her four sisters,:  Pamela Simien (Ennis) of DeQuincy, Louisiana; Carolyn Jackson (Percy) of Seabrook, Texas; Simona Clark (Ron) of Fort McNair, District of Columbia; and Kristin Griffin (Mac) of Orange, Texas; her sister in law, Sandra George (Jimmie) of Loreauville, Louisiana; brothers in law, Herman Mitchell Jr. of Loreauville and Gregory Mitchell (Faith) of Lafayette, Louisiana; godchildren, Breana Staves, Kyleisha Cooks, Ashley Smith and a host of wonderful nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

"Now that our work is done, our course on earth is run.  May it be said: 'Well Done!' Be thou at peace."
