A Life Well Lived
Sarah Louise Pickney was born in April 14, 1944 in Opelousas, LA to Joseph Green Sr. and Loicy Lavine Green.
She accepted Christ and received her baptism under the leadership of Bishop Roy L.H. Winbush at the age of 17. She remained a faithful member of Emmanuel Church of God in Christ and was a cherished member of the choir. Sarah loved sharing her gift of singing and did so traveling the world with Bishop Winbush.
Sarah attended Southern University in Baton Rouge, LA. She later taught elementary school in Sunset, LA.
Sarah and Albert Pickney were united in holy matrimony in 1994 under the leadership of Bishop Roy L.H. Winbush.
On May 6, 2024, our precious mother, Sarah, departed this earthly life and joined her Heavenly Father.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Sr. and Loicy Green, her brother, Robert Green, sisters, Rose Robertson and Velma Swearington, step sister, Elma Clark, her beloved daughter, Ericka Joubert, as well as her grandson, Taylor Joubert, and her niece, Rolanda Robertson.
She leaves to mourn her husband, Albert Pickney, brother, Joseph (Barbara) Green Jr., son, Kenneth Joubert and daughters, Jessica Joubert and Jennifer (Duane) Deruso, step sons, Ronald (Charlene) Richard, Earl (Paula) Richard, step daughters, Angela Pickney and Tracy Richard.
Left to carry on he legacy are her grandchildren, Trevan Joubert, Dr. Joseph Gallien, Duane Deruso II, Kenneth Joubert II and Courtney Joubert.
She will also be remembered by a host of step grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
