Treasie Huddleston Obituary

Treasie M. Valentine-Huddleston affectionately known as “Sis” was born December 13, 1937 in Lake Charles, Louisiana. She went home to be with the Lord on December 30,2025 while hospitalized at St. Patrick Hospital in Lake Charles, Louisiana. Treasie was baptized and accepted God’s favor on her life at an early age at the Good Hope Baptist Church. She was a member of Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church and New Providence Baptist Church for many years while living in Lake Charles, Louisiana under the leadership of Rev. Freddie Brown. Thereafter, she united with Good Hope Baptist Church under leadership of Pastor Timothy Ceasar.

Treasie was a multifaceted person whose life was rich with diverse experiences and accomplishments. She held various significant roles throughout her career, including teacher, mentor, choir member, Sunday School Secretary, President of the Senior Choir, mother, grandmother, member of the sorority Sigma Gamma Rho and devoted friend.

After graduating from Washington High School in Lake Charles, La. She served as an educator for 40 years, and she enjoyed seeing her student’s little eyes light up after learning something new. After retirement she still had a desire to work with children and this lead, her to working at Benjamin’s Infant and Pre School Center in Westlake. La.

Treasie loved to travel and meet with her friends, old and new, to socialize and swap gardening ideas. She also loved singing and fishing with her great-grandson Ivy who was so precious to her. Her favorite scripture was Philippians 4: 19(NIV) “And my God will meet all of your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.” Treasie understood that only through surrendering to God’s will could she know happiness on earth and supreme happiness with our Savior in the next life. She always took particular care of her children and grandchildren and always aspired to follow in her mother’s footsteps as a familyoriented person. Treasie will be remembered for her bright, infectious smile and her enormous heart.
