Vera Lee Mormon, age 96, of Lake Charles, LA. passed away peacefully on August 12, 2024. Born on June 16, 1928 in Lake Charles, LA she was the beloved daughter of the late Bennie Gordon and Mary Lewis Gordon in Lake Charles, LA. Vera was a lifelong resident of Lake Charles, LA. She graduated from 2nd Ward Colored High School and soon became a Domestic Engineer.
Vera Lee was renowned for her unwavering generosity, her deep commitment to her family, and her profound faith in the Lord. Her passions included quilting, nurturing her cherished Rose Garden, and strengthening her relationship with God.
She leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories, survived by her sons, Eddie Bryant Mormon (wife Monica Mormon), Peter Mormon (wife Carla Mormon) and bonus son, Marcus Gordon. Vera is also lovingly remembered by her sisters, Marjorie Miller and Audrey Evans, her brother, Charles Gordon, seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Vera was preceded in death by her husband, Eddie Lee Mormon, and her five children, Melvin Mormon, Faye Mormon, Gary Keith Mormon, David Mormon, and Stafford Mormon. She was also predeceased by four brothers, Freeman Gordon, Alton Gordon, Benny Gordon Jr., Herbert Gordon and three sisters, Eunice G. Mitchell, Betty Rose G. Campbell and Mary Magalene Gordon.
Vera's enduring spirit and loving memory will remain in the hearts of all who knew her.
