Virgie Stevens

Virgie Marie Stevens, 70 entered her life on June 21, 1952 to Batson and Ophelia Stevens in Lake Charles, Louisiana.  She was the eighth child of 11 children.  She was a former member of the Greater Freeman Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Elder Darnold Catlon.

Virgie was known throughout the community for her good cooking.  Her specialty was BBQ and laughing and she loved family gatherings.

She was known to tell it let it is...Bro move around.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Batson Stevens Sr. and Ophelia Antoine Stevens;  her sister, Edolia Avie and her brother, Peter Stevens; her paternal grandparents, Edwin and Onice Stevens and her maternal grandparents, Theodore and Julisa Celestine Antoine.

Survivors are her brothers, Leroy (Diane) Stevens of Long Beach, Ca,  Alvin (Bernadette) Stevens, Batson Jr. (Alexis) of Coppell, Texas, Edwin Lee Stevens of Santa Monica, Ca.; her sisters, Delores (Robert) Nichols of Carson, Ca., Eliza Rolax of Lake Charles, La.,  Olivia Stevens of Austin, Texas and Bonnie Bernard of Lake Charles, La.; She leaves to mourn three sons, John Stevens, Brandon Stevens, and Derrrick Stevens all of Lake Charles, La.; five grandchildren, three great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
